Terény is located 85 km from Budapest and 20 km from Balassagyarmat. Slovakia is also only 20 km away.
🚆By train, the nearest railway station to Terény is Magyarnándor, which can be reached from Budapest Keleti Railway Station with a transfer at Aszód. Magyarnándor is 12 km from Terény. From Magyarnándor, travel to Terény is possible by bus, but unfortunately there are not connecting services for every train
🚌 By bus Terény can be reached from both Budapest and Salgótarján with a transfer in Balassagyarmat. Buses to Balassagyarmat depart hourly from both Budapest and Salgótarján, but between Terény and Balassagyarmat buses run less frequently. Passengers should get off the bus at the "Szőlősor" stop.
🚗 By car, Terény can be reached from Budapest in about 90 minutes. Recommended route: M2 > towards Vác > Rád > Penc > Csővár > Acsa > (turn left at the stop sign) > Galgaguta > Nógrádkövesd > Becske > Szandaváralja > Szanda > Terény.
Arriving from the M3 motorway, leave the motorway at the Bag exit > Aszód > (turn left towards Balassagyarmat) > then follow the main road all the way to Acsa > from there the route is the same as for those arriving from the M2 direction.
👩🦯🚶♂️Terény is easily accessible on foot via section 19 of the National Blue Trail (Becske–Mátraverebély), approaching from the direction of Szandaváralja or Cserhátsurány. The marked hiking route passes through Kossuth Street, where the Szőlősor Guesthouse is conveniently located.
